Refractive Errors

ACHIEVING CLEARER VISION, ONE PRESCRIPTION AT A TIME

Refractive errors are common vision problems caused by the eye's inability to properly focus light, leading to blurred vision.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND BLURRED VISION

Refractive errors occur when the eye's shape prevents light from focusing directly on the retina. This can result in blurred vision. The most common types include myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia. These errors are often a result of genetic factors, age, or environmental influences.

BRING THE WORLD INTO FOCUS

Refractive errors include conditions such as myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia (old-sightedness).

They need to be detected early in young children to prevent the development of amblyopia (lazy eye). Refractive errors can be managed by accurate spectacle prescription. Rapidly progressive myopia can be managed by medications such as atropine and contact lenses.
